In order to deeply promote the learning and understanding of Xi Jinping The Governance of China IV, and timely break new ideas, new views, as well as new theories of Xi Jinping’s governance into the classroom and into the minds of undergraduates, so as to cast the soul and educate people with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. On the afternoon of September 30, 2022, Southwest Jiaotong University held a collective course preparation conference themed on ‘Incorporating XI JINPING THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA Ⅳ into Classes’ at the Academic Lecture Hall 1325 in the No. 3 Teaching Building in Xipu Campus. Gui Fuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the University CPC Committee, Kang Guozheng, Member of Standing Committee of the University CPC Committee and Vice-principal, Cui Kai, Director of the Dean’s Office, Li Meng, Deputy Director of the University CPC Committee Publicity Department, all leaders of the School of Marxism, all faculty members of the Teaching and Research Section of Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and teacher representatives from other departments/sections attended the course preparation conference, which was presided over by Party Secretary of the School of Marxism Liao Jun and Associate Dean Li Xueyong.
In Deputy Secretary Gui Fuqiang’s speech, he pointed out that all professors of ideological and political courses should deeply understand the significance of promoting Xi Jinping The Governance of China IV into the classroom and into the minds of undergraduates, in the context of welcoming the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, China’s moving towards a strong socialist modernization country, and the top-level design made at the 15th Party Congress of the University. In addition, he also put forward his hope and requirements of using the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to cast souls and educate people, as well as to run ideological and political courses in a new era well from five aspects of ‘improving courses quality’, ‘making layout rationally’, ‘making leadership’, ‘demanding strictly’, and ‘strengthening inputs’, indicating the direction as well as clarifying tasks for the School of Marxism on establishing a new development stage, standing at a new historical starting point, and promoting the constructions of courses, faculty members, disciplines, and talents cultivation as a whole, so as to build a national first-class School of Marxism in a new era.
Vice-principal Kang Guozheng pointed out that highlighting the theme, main line, and soul of using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to cast souls and educate people, building sound curriculum resources of ideological and political courses; improving the service level of ideological and political courses under the grand context of prosperous development of philosophy and social science to build China’s independent knowledge system; as well as seizing the current favorable opportunities to realize the upgrading of ideological and political courses towards high quality development.
In the presentation session, representatives from each department/section gave wonderful lectures in the theme of ‘what to integrate, where to integrate, and how to integrate’ based on the XI JINPING THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA Ⅳ , combined with the nature, content, and characteristics of the courses taught by the department. Professor Liu Yubiao from the Teaching and Research Section of Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era gave a lecture titled Five Dimensions of Deep Understanding of the Decisive Significance of the ‘Two Establishments’. Li Mao, on behalf of the Teaching and Research Section of Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, delivered a lecture titled From the Mass Line to People First. Li Yuanbo from the Teaching and Research Section of Basic Principles of Marxism gave a presentation entitled Some Reflections on the XI JINPING THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA Ⅳ into the Basic Principles of Marxism Classroom. Han Feng, on behalf of the Teaching and Research Section of Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Basic Law, gave a lecture entitled General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Discourse on Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of the Socialist Rule of Law System with Chinese Characteristics and ‘Adherence to Law-based Governance in All Aspects’. Zeng Miao from the Teaching and Research Section of Modern History of China delivered a lecture titled Integrating XI JINPING THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA Ⅳ into the Teaching of the Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History Class. Ma Xianrui from the Teaching and Research Section of Situation and Policy made a speech on Reflections on the Teaching of Integrating XI JINPING THE GOVERNANCE OF CHINA Ⅳ into the Situation and Policy Class. Zhang Lulu, on behalf of the Teaching and Research Section of Ideological and Political Education for Postgraduates, gave a lecture entitled Deeply Grasping the Changes of Major Contradictions in Our Society in a New Era from the Historical Dimension. Jing Weixing from the Department of Ideological and Political Education delivered a lecture titled Exploration of the 5D Model for the Construction of Undergraduate Specialties in Ideological and Political Based on Adapting to the ‘New Development Pattern’.
Tian Yongxiu, Executive Dean of the School of Marxism, pointed out in her concluding speech that Gui Fuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the University CPC Committee, Kang Guozheng, Member of Standing Committee of the University CPC Committee and Vice-principal, as well as leaders from the University CPC Committee Publicity Department and the Dean’s Office came to the School’s collective course preparation conference to give guidance, reflecting the high importance, kind concern, and full support of University leaders towards both the School and the ideological and political courses. The School would, in accordance with the instruction spirit of university leaders, make all-out efforts to promote the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses, improve the quality and efficiency, create bright features, as well as strive to build the ideological and political courses into excellent courses that students truly love, benefit from, and will never forget. First of all, we should raise our political status, strengthen our mission, as well as make it a glorious mission, a common task, and the number one project of the whole School to run excellent ideological and political courses and use Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to educate people. Secondly, we should not only follow requirements of relevant documents of the Ministry of Education to strengthen collective course preparation, but also make efforts to speak accurately, deeply, thoroughly, and vividly about Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, using the power of truth to infect and win students. Finally, we are supposed to strengthen theoretical research and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, aiming at the major theoretical and practical needs of our country, together with coming up with real skills and brilliant results in researching and solving major issues of overall, fundamental, and critical importance to the Party and country.
In order to improve the grassroots teaching organization, as well as construct a strong position and integrated platform for integrating Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into classroom and students’ minds, the Conference also held an establishment ceremony of the Teaching and Research Section of Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
